Agnes Bruns Wanjura, 90, of Cuero, was called from the church militant to the church triumphant on Sunday, December 17, 2017. She was born June 6, 1927 in Bebe, Texas to the late Arthur and Katie Tieken Bruns. Agnes married the love of her life, Allen Wanjura, on April 1, 1942 in Gonzales. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. Agnes was an accomplished seamstress, member of Cuero Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, VFW, Hermann Sons, Cuero Hospital Pink Ladies, and a faithful servant of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Jacque (Paul) Gerke of Beasley and Shena (Lonnie Ureste)Timberlake of Sugarland; sons, Charles (Veronica) Wanjura and Arthur (Denise) Wanjura, both of Cuero; grandchildren, Kyle (Haley) Gerke, Kody (Ashley) Gerke, Aspen Timberlake, Abigail Timberlake and Trey Timberlake; great-grandchildren Aubrey Gerke and Keagan Gerke; and one brother, Alton Bruns.
She was preceded by her parents; her loving husband of 34 years; her son, Luther Nick Wanjura; sisters, Genevieve Mikesh and Katie Bruns; and brothers Ruben Bruns and Johnnie Bruns.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Muehlbrad officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.Funeral Service
