Obituary

Albert Raynold Jahnsen of Cuero, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at the age of 81. He was born on July 31, 1939, in Denhawken, Texas.

Family was the joy of his life. He loved his four children, cherished his eight grandchildren, but he lived for his fourteen great-grandchildren. He was most happy with all the family gathered around on the patio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Beatrice Jahnsen; brother, Earl Jahnsen; son, Thomas Jahnsen (Rosie); daughters, Brenda Gohmert (John Lloyd), Kay Lapp Arndt (Delvin), Denise McMahan (Jeff); grandchildren, Michael Lapp (Casey), Heather Squires (Russell), Stephanie Haverda (Benjamin), Johnna Gohmert (Nick), Miranda Adams (Will), Brent Gohmert (Hannah), Mikayla Sebek (Blayne), Carly Waters (Chris); and great-grandchildren, Mason, Lincoln, Everley, Parker, Koltyn, Seeley, Slade, Rayland, Brantley, Callahan, Waylon, Clancy, Amos, and Casen. Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary; sisters, Henrietta Kallies, Estelle McRoberts and Iona Jahnsen; brothers, Clarence Jahnsen, Robert Jahnsen, and Melvin Jahnsen; and Son-in-law, Neal Lapp.

He understood the importance of honor. He served four years in the United States Navy as a Seamen First Class. He believed in the value of leadership and service. He was a former worshipful master and devoted member of the Masonic Lodge, a dedicated member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he held an active role in Men in Mission building ramps for disabled community members, and a memorable alumni of the Cuero Turkeyfest board and race team. He was a member of the American Legion and the Traveler's Protection Agency.

We are not here to simply remember him - his life is not yet finished. If we strive to embody even a fraction of his greatness, we will continue to fulfill his legacy. We will all be immensely better people because of it, because of him.

Albert, Dad, Papaw, Uncle Al, Uppie, Friend, Leader - a life well lived, a life well loved, a life fulfilled.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Albert's caregivers and support system with special thanks to Dr. Willers, the DaVita team, Sergio and Jasmine, and the staff at the Cuero Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 25th from 5 PM - 7 PM with the Masonic ceremony beginning at 6:40 PM. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, August 26th with celebration of life at 10 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero and graveside immediately after at Memory Gardens of Cuero.
