Alberta M. Wieland of Austin, formerly of Cuero, died on July 22, 2012. She was 94 years old.
Alberta Margaret Mueller Wieland was born September 27, 1917, in Runge, TX, a daughter of the late
Albert Bonham and Erna Bolting Mueller. She graduated from Nordheim High School in 1935 and attended Mary Hardin Baylor College at Belton. She earned BS (1960) and MEd (1963) degrees from Southwest Texas State College, San Marcos.
Alberta was a teacher for 27 years. She taught one year in Yates Creek District, Karnes Co. (1936-37), four years at New County Line, Dewitt Co. (1937-41), four years at Yorktown Elementary (1960-64). She taught math 18 years at Crain Intermediate School in Victoria (1964-1982). She retired in 1982. She was a life member of Texas Retired Teachers Assn. and of Victoria County RTA. She was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Cuero. She was a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge 82, AARP Chapter 3168, charter member of the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Dept. and Heirloom Stitchers Guild in Cuero.

Survivors are one daughter, Barbara Ann (Andy) Agan of Corpus Christi; one granddaughter, Wendy Celeste Abel (Jaiy) Braulick of Austin and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 54 years, Gilbert A. Wieland and sisters, Alfreda "Fay" Huck and Annette Wagner.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6-8 pm, at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11 am at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Biermann. Interment will follow at Nordheim Cemetery.
