Alice Elizabeth Wendel Aschenbeck, 84, of Cuero, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010. She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Yoakum, to the late Adam and Mathilda Wendel. She married Wilbert J. Aschenbeck on April 23, 1945 in Yoakum.
She was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She loved her family, especially her three grandchildren. She was also very active with the Catholic Daughters, St. Michael's Altar Society, and American Legion Auxiliary, and she loved to volunteer and play Bingo.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Kocurek (Frank) of Cuero, Diane A. Jones of Cuero, and Paula M. Traynham of Fort Stockton; sister, Irene Rohan of Schulenburg; and grandchildren, William Ross Jones of San Antonio, Laura Marie Jones of Rockport, and Bradley W. Kocurek of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Clem Wendel.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Aug. 10, 2010, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Yoakum.
Pallbearers will be William Ross Jones, Laura M. Jones, Bradley Kocurek, Jay Bramlette, Kathy Aldrich Reynolds, and Robert Denson.
Honorary pallbearers are St. Michael Catholic Daughters and American Legion Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or St. Michael School Endowment Fund.
