Alois Pete Henkes, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2010. He was born on January 30, 1935 in Cuero to Herman and Aggie Zuber Henkes. He was drafted and served during the Korean War as a Radio Tech. He was retired from Farris Chevrolet.
He is survived by sons, Albert Wayne Henkes of Gonzales, Herman Lanier Henkes and wife, Geana, of San Antonio, and Walter Todd Henkes and wife, Jenny, of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Elizabeth Loos of Cuero; caregiver, Jane Waltersdorff of Cuero; eight granddaughters; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Henkes, Leon Henkes, and Herman Henkes, Jr.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, August 2, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Kirk Henkes, Henry Henkes III, Ben Ebrom, Lonnie Parr, Gregory Bixenmann, and Tommie Henkes. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Lucas, Joe Squyres, his eight granddaughters, and one grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Albert Henkes Seminary Burse or St. Michaels Catholic Church Building Fund.
