Mrs. Alta Nettie Hill Nelson at the age of 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2011. She was born November 3, 1932 in Bebe to the late Robert and Mary Murf Hill. Alta married Clifford Allert Nelson of Gonzales on November 2, 1949. To this union were four children, the late John Nelson, Larry Nelson and wife, Shirley, of Meyersville, Jill Bomba and husband, Francis, of Victoria, and Darryl (Bubba) Nelson and wife, Sherri, of Three Rivers.

Alta is survived by her husband of 61 years; three children; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Sellers and Minnie Mae Springs; and brothers, Rev. Robert Hill, William Hill, and Thomas Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Nelson; and brother, Elder Ray Hill.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Freund Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with her brother, Rev. Robert Hill, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Gonzales.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Lance Nelson, Kristofer Nelson, Patrick Nelson, Steven Nelson, Bradley Bomba, Kyle Otto, Candice Nelson, and Peyton Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers include Reese Nelson, Lily Nelson, and Riley Costella.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
