Obituary

Amelia Reyna, 93, of Westhoff passed away on November 14, 2020 at Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cuero after a brief illness. She was born on  August 14, 1927 in Concrete to Mateo and Braulia Garza Lopez.  She married Adam Reyna, Sr. on February 16, 1947 in Yoakum and together, they settled in Westhoff and raised five children.

Amelia leaves us with many fond and cherished memories including her sharp wit, infectious laugh, and love of a good game of Loteria.

She took great pride in her work for Tex Tan Saddlery in the early 1980s which included overseeing the leather tooling of a belt that was gifted to President Ronald Reagan on a visit to the area. Later, Amelia brought her baking acumen to Westhoff Independent School District as a cook and was beloved by the many schoolchildren who attended Westhoff Elementary School for her famous rolls.

She treasured family gatherings, cooking & baking, arts & crafts, Bingo nights, and gambling trips to Las Vegas, NV, and Kinder, LA.

Amelia is survived by her children, Adam Reyna, Jr. (Pat) of Del Rio, Albert Reyna (Mickie) of League City, Raul J. Reyna (Nan) of Westhoff, Cynthia Flores (Israel) of San Antonio, and Virginia Ochoa (Manuel) of Live Oak; grandchildren, Rene Anthony Ochoa (Jennifer) of Edinburg, Erica Ridenour (Keith) of League City,  Raul N. Reyna (Chelsea) of College Station, Nicholas Jacob Reyna (Victoria) of Victoria; great-grandchildren, Ayla and Jase Ridenour; siblings, Fred Lopez, Joe Lopez, Lupe Vasquez, Jeannie Vasquez and Beatrice Navaira; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,  Adam Reyna, Sr.; and siblings, Margaret Canales, Santiago Lopez, Isidro Lopez, Ray Lopez, Martin Lopez, Jesse Lopez, Mateo Lopez, and Santos Lopez.

She will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
