Angelene Gardner Campbell was the youngest child born on December 18, 1948 to the late Ira Gardner Sr. and Leola Mae Barefield Gardner in Cuero.  She peacefully passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the age of 74.  Angelene accepted and professed a belief in Christ at an early age and united with Brothers Chapel United Methodist Church and later with First United Methodist Church in Cuero.  She attended Daule High School and Cuero High School. She married Levase Henderson Campbell and moved to Houston.  They returned to Cuero where she worked as a caregiver for Mrs. Ann Carter Thomas and her daughter, Margaret 'Missy' Thomas for many years.

Angelene was loved by many and has left beautiful memories for all to treasure.  She had a beautiful smile and good conversation for everyone.  Her greatest joy after all her siblings passed away was talking to and being around her nieces, nephews and friends.  Her special niece was Yvonne Strait, who took very good care of her.

Angelene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Ira Gardner Jr., Julia Beal, James Gardner Sr., Vivian Thomas and Robert Gardner Sr.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her nieces and nephews; special friends, Johnell Price and Josephine Thompson; and many other friends and family members.  Angelene will never be forgotten and will always have a special place in the hearts of those she loved.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Cuero.  Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Lindsey Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Chris Mathis, Omar Littles, Ray Harris, Boo Green and Austin Galloway.

Honorary Pallbearers include her nephews and nieces.
