Annie Nell Mize of Cuero joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Nell was born in Collegeport, TX to AA and Vannie Penland on August 26, 1934.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee A Mize; son, Roger Leland; great-granddaughter, Teagan Carys Hampton; brothers, Aaron, Glenn, Ray Lee, Ralph, Gene, Paul, Clyde, James and Robert Penland; and sister, Sarah Penland.
Nell is survived by her children, Pamela Gadapee (Alfred) of DeRidder, LA, Arona Henneke of Victoria, Larry (Michelle) Mize of Corpus Christi, and Gary (Tessie) Mize of Bossier City, LA; sister, Sue Penland of Judsonia, AR; and brother, Johnny Penland of Palacios. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Nell was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Cuero where she served as a Sunday school teacher, was part of Women's Ministries, and was the church pianist/organist for over 50 years. Nell was also in the first class of Victoria College of Nursing graduates and worked all units of care for 35 years at Cuero Community Hospital. Most importantly, she was a true woman of God and a powerful prayer warrior. She believed in her Savior Jesus Christ and lived through his footsteps every step she took on this earth.
Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cuero with services beginning at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Cuero Regional Hospital ICU Unit, Dr. Raymond Reese, the PAM Unit at Citizens Medical in Victoria, as well as a very special thanks to lifetime friends, Julie & EJ McMichaels and John & Rose Simpson.
