Arthur Louis Bluntzer, age 93, of Goliad passed into eternity, Sunday, July 14, 2024. He was born in Cuero on October 18th, 1930 to Otto M. and Elorine P. Jacob Bluntzer. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jeanette M. (Bitterly) Bluntzer; son, Paul A. (Mary Lee) Bluntzer; daughters, Carolyn (John T.) Hughes and Linda (Carlos) Cano. Surviving sisters include Marlene (Roy) Wesselmann, Olivia McDonald, Margaret (Roland Storbeck) Rutherford and Mary Kay (Mark) Gray, brothers, Otto (Ruth) Bluntzer, Bernard (Carol) Bluntzer, and James (Nancy) Bluntzer; and sister-in-law, Kay Bluntzer. His grandchildren include Nicole (Robert) Feldman, Jared (Laurel) Bluntzer, Laura (Darrin) Griffiths, Tessa (Nicholas) Somich, Christopher Hughes, Cory Hughes, Melanie Hughes, Travis Cano, and Lisa (Eric) Reyna. Great-grandchildren include Cameron Griffiths, Emily Feldman, Olivia Feldman, Penelope Bluntzer, John Feldman, Leia Bluntzer, Ari Bluntzer, Sawyer Somich, Sarah Feldman, and Alexander Reyna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles K. Bluntzer and brother-in-laws, Michael Rutherford and Donald McDonald.
Arthur proudly served in the United States Air Force for 3 yrs and 9 months as an academic instructor and supervisor. He married Jeanette M. Bitterly on August 6, 1952.
Arthur's education included a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education plus additional studies in Law, Chemistry, and Management. He worked in the agricultural industry for 36 years, spending most of this time as a Quality Control Manager and a consultant to international firms. During this time period, Arthur also represented ag operations with the FDA, USDA, TDA, and TDH, circling the world three times in the process.
After retiring, Arthur and his wife, Jeanette owned and operated three cow-calf operations in Goliad and Dewitt counties.
While in Kenedy, Arthur served as a Boy Scout leader for 15 years. He was also a member of the Jay Cees, where he held all local offices. Arthur was a member of Kenedy and Goliad Rotary Clubs with 35 years of perfect attendance. He held all local offices and served as assistant to the Rotary District Governor. Arthur was also a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Arthur helped form the Goliad County water district. In addition to serving on the water district board, he also served on the Goliad County Appraisal Review Board. He participated in numerous local, state, and national Farm Bureau functions, making lobbying trips to Austin and Washington, D.C. Arthur served six years as County Farm Bureau President and six years as a Texas Farm Bureau State Director for District 12.
Visitation will be held Sunday July 21, 2024, 4-6 pm at Freund Funeral Home with a Rosary to begin at 5:30 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Richard Bediako officiating. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Goliad Rotary Club or Texas Farm Bureau.
