Arthur A. Veit, Jr., known to most as 'Jr.', passed away suddenly, July 30, at his home near Westhoff, at the age of 49. He was born March 23, 1961 in Cuero to the late Arthur Veit, Sr. and Irene Lukas Veit.

He was a rancher and operated the Veit Dozer Service for many years. Before starting his own company he worked many years for Chandler Cattle Company along with his dad and brothers. He enjoyed reading and doing puzzles and was an active member of the Westhoff Volunteer Fire Department. For the last few years he devoted much of his time to the care of his late father and was a great source of comfort and support for his mother.

He is survived by his mother, Irene Veit of Westhoff; sisters, Melanie and Fred Driffill of Floresville and Vonnie and Jeff Jackson of Bandera; brothers, Mark and Sammie Veit of Cuero and Matt Veit of Clio, Michigan. He was uncle to Chelsea and Garrett of Cuero, Katy and Jill of Clio, and Lukas and Emily of Bandera.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur A. Veit, Sr.

Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Veit, Matt Veit, Fred Driffill, Jeff Jackson, John Robinson, Jeff Constable, Mitch Holverson, and David Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Westhoff Volunteer Fire Department or Westhoff Cemetery Association, both of Westhoff (77994).
