Arthur Dutton Lane, 84, of Cuero passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was born October 24, 1925 in Cuero to the late Samuel Winston and Nannie Lee (Williams) Lane. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service. He married Bennie Rae Lowrance on August 4, 1951 in Yoakum. He was an avid rancher and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; his son, Robert Dutton Lane of Tilden; daughters, Candy Lane Thompson and husband, Bill, of West Palm Beach, FL and Sherri Lane Henwood of New Braunfels; and three grandchildren, Amber Lea Lane, Dutton Trevor Lane, and Candyce Nicole Henwood.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Winston and Nannie Lee Lane; two brothers , Samuel Winston Lane III and Fritz Lane; and two sisters, Siddy Penner and Ann Mary Wofford.
Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Cotman officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Errol John Dietze, Finley Blackwell, Lovel Blain, Bucky Sager, Bobby Lane, and Smokey Wilson.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or First Presbyterian Church of Cuero.
