Bertha Marie Hoskinson, 95, of Westhoff passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born to Henry and Vercie Karkseek in Hutchinson, Kansas on December 8, 1926. Bertha married her high school sweetheart, Jack, on July 28, 1945 and in 1950 they moved to San Antonio with their two daughters to begin their new life. She was a homemaker, a seamstress who sewed several prom dresses for her daughters and also crocheted many afghans for her family. Along with her husband, Jack, they started JaMar Ceramics in San Antonio and she also was a secretary for First Baptist Church and University Baptist Church. She was a member of the alter guild for her church, Faith Luteran in Dickinson.
Bertha is survived by her daughters, Penne Matusek and Kayliene McWhorter (Dave); granddaughter, Shawndy White (Howard); great-granddaughters, Ashley Sholley (Bruce) and Erica Riley (Michael); and great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Tristan, Madison, and Kensleigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Hoskinson; sister, Leona Winn; infant grandson, Philip Tarvin; infant great-granddaughter, Heather White; and son-in-laws, Clayton Tarvin and Tommy Matusek.
She will be greatly missed by everyone in the family.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, 10 am, at Westhoff Cemetery with Pastor Kyle Clinton officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
