Obituary

Petra "Betty" Bernal Ybarra, 90, of Cuero, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013. She was born on December 3, 1922 in Yorktown, Texas to Paulino Bernal and Maria Duran. She married her beloved Fidel Ybarra, Jr. on September 27, 1938 in Cuero, Texas. "Grandma Betty" was an accomplished seamstress, who also enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening, crocheting, and camping. She is survived by her daughters Mary Salazar of Texas City, Beatrice Salazar of Houston, Amelia Lopez (Fred) of La Marque, Doris McLain (Dave) of Pineville. LA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Fidel Ybarra Jr., Son; Paulino J. Ybarra, sisters; Mary Ruiz, and Elvira Aguilar, brothers; Rollie Lopez, Lawrence Lopez, Ernest Ramirez, and Carlos Garibay Jr. Pallbearers will include; Chris Lopez, Michael Lopez, Noah Salazar, Patrick Salazar, Thomas Salazar, Guy McLain, Jon McLain, and Staff Sgt. Calvin Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Fred Lopez, Dave McLain, Tony Salazar, Esiquio C. Ybarra, Matt Lopez, and Mark Lopez. Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cuero, Texas.
