Victoria-Byron Paul Hahn, Sr., 57, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 after a valiant 3 year struggle with cancer. He was born September 3, 1951 in Cuero to the late Paul F. and Eileen Dreyer Hahn. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Byron worked for the State Comptroller's Office as a tax official for 30 years. Byron was a former Boy Scout Assistant Scout Leader, 4H Rifle Coach and Project Leader, and volunteered with Holy Family CCD.

He is survived by his wife Irene M. Hahn, son, Byron Paul Hahn, Jr., sister, Beverly Lincke, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be at Freund Funeral home (213 N. Gonzales, Cuero) Sunday, June 7, 2009 4-6 p.m. with the rosary recited at 6p.m. at Freund. The funeral will be at Holy Family Catholic Church (704 Mallette Drive, Victoria) at 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009. Burial will follow at 12 noon at Westhoff Cemetery on Hwy 87. A meal will follow graveside services at the Westhoff American Legion Hall No 369, Hwy 87.

Pallbearers are: Walter McClung, Mac McClung, Jerry Dreyer, Charles Hahn, Byron Luke Albrecht, William Clay Albrecht, Jeff Dornak, Gary Worsham, and Roger Barnett. Honorary pallbearers are: Katie McClung, Drew William Albrecht, Pete and Linda Brown, Mary and Monroe Rieger, Janet and Bob Thaxton, Edna Markman, Susie Dreyer, Marcy Worsham, Ruth DeYoung, Sherry Heyer, Linda Miller and Irene A. Hahn, Jeri and Sammy Alvarez, Jack Hardin, Marcus Wayne Garcia, Ray Gloor, Jimmie Stary, Dr. Bonnie Glisson and all Hahn/Schulle/Dreyer/Rath/Bitterly cousins.
