Canuto "John" Barron, 75, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018.  He was born January 19, 1943 to Juan and Maria Gamboa Barron in Westhoff.  He married the love of his life, Petra Gonzales, on March 5, 1964.  John was an oilfield crew supervisor with D&B Oilfield Services for over 30 years.  He  enjoyed BBQing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves, music, watching western movies, and drinking coffee with friends at Dairy Queen. John's greatest joy came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

John is survived by his mother; wife; daughters, Sandra B. (Mike) Longoria of Sugarland/Kingman, AZ, Sophia B. (Shelva) Lemons of Victoria, and  Michelle G. Cruz (sister in law); sons, John J. (Wendy) Barron of Houston and Jamie (Evie) Barron of San Antonio; brothers, Domingo (Gloria) Barron of Westhoff and Mike Barron of San Antonio; sisters, Irene Villa of Cuero and Olga B. (Charles)Tounley of Cuero; and his eleven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Nabor Barron.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Cuero with Pastors Dan Cancino and Mike Barron officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Trae Barron, Eddie Barron, Domingo Barron Jr., Nabor Barron Jr., John Michael Villa, and Sammy Villa Jr.  Honorary pallbearers include Sterling Sablatura, Antonio C. Ruiz, Pete Dlugosch, Brandon Dlugosch, Brian Dlugosch, Elvin Wright, and Eric Tounley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Baptist Church, Hospice of South Texas in Victoria, or Dornburg Center of Compassion.
