Cecil Joseph (Joe) Bowen, 91, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born August 1, 1929 in Galveston to Dorothy Teutenburg and Cecil Lundry. He married Patsy Scott on February 15, 1951 in Dallas. He was an Army medic in post WWII in Germany and served in the Air Force reserves. Joe was a volunteer firefighter in Duncanville, Texas for thirteen years and served as fire chief for two and a half years. Joe worked for and retired from Southwestern Bell after working there for thirty six years. Joe and Pat enjoyed traveling in their RV. They visited the majority of the United States and also traveled to Canada and Mexico. Joe was married for 70 years to his wife, Pat.
He is survived by his bride of 70 years, Pat; daughters, Kerry Angell (Richard), Valerie Piercy (Brian) and Stacy Christison (Gary); son, Steve Bowen (Tammy); sister, Mary Lou Jones; brothers, Jerry Bowen and Bobby Bowen; eight grandchildren, Kristi, Jennifer, Mark, Greg, Laura, Nick, Matt, and Sam; and five great-grandchildren, Kendra, Kylie, Alia, Abbey, and Amberley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, step-father, Lewis Bowen and daughter, Patti Jo Bowen.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 14, 1 pm, at Freund Funeral Home with a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery at 2 pm. Pastor Terry Brown will be officiating.
