CUERO - Charlene J. Tippit, 83, of Cuero, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2009. She was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Houston, to the late Bill and Hertha Ferguson. She married Ray Tippit on April 20, 1952 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero. She was area secretary for the Department of Public Welfare and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Dennis Tippit of San Antonio, Steven Tippit of Newport News, Va., and Rex Tippit of Pearland; sisters, Lucille Curl of Cuero; and grandchildren, Jared Tippit, Keaton Tippit, and Ashlynn Tippit, all of Pearland, Daniel Tippit of San Antonio, Farren Pennington of Columbus, Ohio, and Kimberly Seik of San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Charlotte J. Dulling.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 9, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Eckert officiating. Interment will
follow at Memory Gardens in Cuero.
