Charles M. 'Chuck' Jacob passed away June 6, 2010. He was born November 6, 1935 in Cuero, Texas. His parents were Milton C. and Agnes Boehm Jacob. He was 74 years old.
Chuck graduated from Cuero High School in 1954. After a short stint in college he began to work with DeWitt Electric Cooperative (now GVEC). He retired as line superintendent in 1991 completing 38 years of service. On July 30, 1955, he married Roseann Tubbs, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. They were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Cuero. Dr. Marshall Doggett conducted the ceremony. Through 54 years of marriage they were each other's best friend and constant companion. Chuck was an avid sportsman and gun collector. He loved hunting and one of his greatest joys was to be out early in the morning and watch the woods come alive. He was a master mason and 44 year member of Cuero Masonic Lodge #409 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association, The Cuero Gun Club, Foundation for North American Wild Sheep, Safari Club International, Texas Trophy Hunters Association, and The Texas Skeet Shooters Association. Chuck was a veteran of Company 'M' 141 St. Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, and the Texas National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roseann; daughter, Patricia Curry and husband, David, of Shepherd; son, Jeff Jacob and wife, Linda, of Cuero; grandchildren, Susan Bradley and husband, Scott, of Houston, Colton Wade Jacob of Cuero, Leland Jacob Riddle of College Station, and Clinton Charles Riddle of Shepherd. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Copenhaver and husband, Barry, of Cuero; sister-in-law, Maxine Montgomery and husband, Bill, of Cuero; nieces, Ann Palmer and husband, Stephen, of Austin, Leah Ramos and husband, Carlos, of San Clemente, Calif., and Jill Trevino and husband, Lonnie, of Islamabad, Pakistan; nephews, Ben Strauser of Austin and Scott Copenhaver and wife, Ineke, of Washington D.C.; great-nephews, Carson Copenhaver, Justin Copenhaver, Max Copenhaver, Benjamin Palmer, and Henry Palmer.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and infant son who died shortly after birth.
Visitation will be at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will also be at Freund Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. Service will be conducted by Rev. Sam Jenkins. Graveside service will be by Cuero Masonic Lodge.
Pallbearers are Leland Riddle, Clint Riddle, Colton Jacob, Scott Copenhaver, Ben Strauser, Susan Bradley, and Scott Bradley.
