Charles Arthur Lassmann Sr., age 74, of Cuero passed from this life to eternity at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Charles was born on March 9, 1938 in Victoria County to Carl Oscar and Pearl Brandt Lassmann. Charles attended school in Cuero until 1957 when he joined the United States Army to proudly serve his country from 1957 until 1978 as a Sergeant. He served his tours in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, Charles worked offshore in the oilfield which he truly loved. He retired from the oilfield in 2010. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Charles loved the outdoors and spent all his free time in the country taking care of his land and his cattle.
He is survived by his mother, Pearl Lassmann; his wife of 22 years, Lornett Leick Lassmann; daughters, Charlene Taylor of Arkansas and Anissa Blackwell and husband, Finley, of Cuero; son, Charles Arthur Lassmann Jr. of Cuero; stepchildren, Terri Walther and husband, Kelly, of Kaufman, Cindy Egg and husband, Vance, of Meyersville, Todd Hausman and wife, Judy, of Bryan, and Melanie Faulkner and husband, Tim, of Tennessee; grandchildren, Cassidy Blackwell, Dixie Blackwell, Heather Ortiz, Charlsea Taylor, Emily Faulkner, Thomas Walther, Elizabeth Green, Samuel Walther, Jordan Egg, Kayla Egg, Garrett Egg, Eric Hausman, and Adam Hausman; one great-grandchild, Juliet Green; brothers, Richard Lassmann and wife, Marie, of Kingsville, John Lassmann and wife, Pauline, of Victoria, and Alton Lassmann and wife, Linda, of Mission Valley; and sister, Gloria Buendel of Poth.
Charles was predeceased by his father, Carl Lassmann and many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012, 10 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Biermann officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of Ft. Sam Houston will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clark Boudreaux, Tommy Webb, Guy Yates, David Kaiser, Gary Jacobs, and Bobby Schley.

Charles, your laughter, beautiful smile, and everything about you will be forever missed. Gone but not forgotten. We love you.
