Charles Thamm, 81, of Cuero, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010. He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Cuero, to the late Arthur and Violet Thamm.

Charles graduated from Cuero High School and attended Texas A&I in Kingsville. He became a member of the National Guard and went into the plumbing business with his dad. Charles took over the business and stayed with it for 40 years. Charles married Junell Meyer on March 24, 1957 in Lindenau. Some of his hobbies were flying airplanes, hunting, and fishing. Charles also loved reading Western books and spending time in the outdoors where his father was raised.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years; daughter, Karen Staehr and husband Fred of Victoria; sons, Michael Thamm and wife Patricia of Cuero and Howard Thamm of Austin; sister, Charlice Finck of Houston; and grandchildren, Alicia Staehr of Victoria, Natalie Thamm, Madalynn Thamm, and Russell Thamm, all of Cuero; and great-grandchild, Emily Staehr of Victoria.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today, May 25, 2010, at Freund Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Biermann officiating.

Pallbearers will be Fielding Cocke, Alexander Cocke, Alden Meyer, Chad Meyer, Kirby Sauer, and Johnny Jank.
