Mrs. Christine Odom, 75, of Cuero, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011. She was born January 25, 1936, in Cuero, to the late Ned and Ora Lee Williams Battles. She married her late husband, Ed Henry Odom, on Feb. 6, 1961. She was an LVN and loved reading the Bible and other books to have more knowledge about God.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Ann Mathis (Warren) of Cuero and Lea Campbell (Robert) of Victoria; sons, Leonard Jones (Latricia) of San Antonio and Lionel Odom (Dora) of Cuero; sisters, Mable Polk of Cuero, Evelyn Bolds of Willis, and Pearlene Burton of Cuero; brothers, Ned Battles Jr. of Corpus Christi and Troy Battles of Cuero; nieces, Elizabeth Mulkey, Shirley Lewis, Nicole Burton, Sabrina Battles, and Eurica Burton; nephew, Donnell Cray Jr.; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Chris Odom; and sons, Larry Jones, Michael Jones, and Baby Odom.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at 2 p.m., at LE Meador Encampment Grounds with the Rev. Kelvin F. Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Nobels Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Lionel Odom Jr., Leonard Jones Jr., D'Monzay Cray, Don Pickens, Quincy Whittington, Timothy Johnson, Robert Gibbs, and Wesley Whitten.
Honorary pallbearers include Robert Campbell, Warren Mathis, JR Odom, Eddie Odom, Rodney Williams, Adrian Thomas, Charles Whitfield, and Walter Jenkins.
