Chris Langenberg, formally of Victoria, went to be with our Heavenly Father on November 17, 2010 at the age of 64. Born in Washington, Missouri on November 5, 1946 to the late Melvin Langenberg and Anne Berger, he came to reside in Victoria in 1952, graduated in 1964 from Victoria High School and attended Victoria College prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force. Langenberg served as Vice President of Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations at Victoria Bank and Trust from 1969 -1990. He was also well known for the operation of Victoria CROSSROADS BMX bicycle race track in the 1980's. As an avid motorcycle rider, he enjoyed the "open road" and the common bond with other motorcyclist, and was known as "Eagle" in the group "LA FAMILIA" and in his church, "Rushing Wind Church".
Surviving are his mother, Anne Berger and stepfather, Amos Berger of Owensville, Missouri; his children, Michael (Bertha) Langenberg of San Antonio, Melvin (Toya) Langenberg of Austin, and Ana (Rachel) Herring of Victoria; brothers, Tony Langenberg of Miami, Florida and David Langenberg of Houston; sister, Jennifer Turbeville of Houston; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 22, 2010 at 262 Crestview Dr. Cuero, Texas (residence of River Haven Subdivision off Anderson Rd). Pastor Mike Swearingen will officiate. A celebration of his life will follow. Casual attire is highly encouraged.
