Clarence Edward Thomas, age 82, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010. He was born March 28, 1928 in Cheapside to Will Thomas, Jr. and Bernice Bishop Thomas. Clarence worked for Cuero Cotton Oil Mill and for the Coca-Cola Plant for 44 years. He attended school at Boyd Ranch and Daule. Clarence confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was baptized by the late Rev. L.V. Ford. Clarence was a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church for many years. He joined Little Zion Baptist Church in 2009 and was an active Deacon until illness. Clarence truly loved working in the church and loved watching sports.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memory, his wife, Pamela Thomas; son, Dalton Thomas (Rosemary) of Dallas; daughter, Mattie Ramey of San Bernardino, Calif.; stepsons, Marquis Edwards and Ronell Green; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Tommy Thomas (Vivian), Javance Thomas; sisters, Lucy Thomas Wimbish (David), Bernice Thomas Stevens, Ruby Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carrie Thomas, Jeraldine Thomas, Willie Thomas Blackwell, and Saddie Thomas Arkadie; and brothers, James Thomas and Leslie Thomas.
A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010, 2 p.m., at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold L. Taylor officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Pleasantville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church or Little Zion Baptist Church.
