Obituary

Clifford William Haun went to be with his Savior on October 12, 2018 at the age of 78 after courageously battling lung cancer. He was born December 15, 1939 to Herbert and Martha Haun in Meyersville.  Clifford married Barbara Josephine Rohan, better known as Bette Jo, on June 21, 1959.  Clifford and Bette Jo settled down and raised their four children in Meyersville. Clifford worked for the Soil and Water Conservation Service for 33 years.  Clifford spent most of his working years helping his family, fellow country people, and his church.  Clifford was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meyersville where he was baptized, confirmed, and married.  Throughout the years, he served his church as deacon, vice president, president, and elder on the Church Council.  Clifford was the first president of Lutheran Brotherhood Chapter 884 that formed in the Crossroads area.  He also served his church on the worship committee, head of a pastoral call committee, and treasurer and president of the Old Stone Church Committee.  He served 33 years on the DeWitt County Producers Board of Directors, 2 years as director of the Soil Conservation District in DeWitt County, and 9 years on the Meyersville School Board.  Clifford enjoyed tending to his property and cows, going to eat every Friday night, a good game of bridge or dominoes, homemade ice cream, and any family gathering where visiting and telling stories took place.  Clifford was a kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, and Grandpa.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years; daughter, Lesley (David) Bruns of Goliad; son, Clay Haun (Michele Pargmann) of Meyersville; nine granddaughters, Molly (Lucas) Turner, Sarah (Wade) Cooper, Carly (Christopher) Waters, Channing Bruns, Christine Haun, Mallory Bruns, Emily Haun, Lauren Haun, and Alexis Haun; great-grandchildren, Camille Turner, Casen Waters, and Lydia Cooper; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Fagg and Clydelle (Kenneth) Tam; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Arndt; son, Brad Haun; grandson, Quinton Haun; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends he grew up with.
