Dave F. Matejek Sr., 82, of Cuero passed away Monday, January 16, 2012. He was born February 18, 1929 in Yorktown to the late Fritz and Bridget Matejek. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army from 1951 to 1955. He was a rancher and a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by daughter, Debra Snedecor and husband, Kevin, of Houston; sons, Dave Matejek Jr. and wife, Tina, of Cuero, John Matejek and wife, Jenny, of Auburndale, Florida, Larry Matejek of Victoria, and Derrick Matejek and wife, Leighann, of Houston; sisters, Pauline Zuber of Wharton, Martha Workman of Edna, and Mary Baker of Gonzales; brother, Clarence Matejek of Cuero; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Kueker Matejek; son, Robert Matejek; sisters, Roselee Schlinke and Doris Baker; and brothers, Anton Matejek, Alfred Matejek, Henry Matejek, and George Matejek.

Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Rev. John Kueker officiating. Interment will follow at Lindenau Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Dave F. Matejek Jr., John Matejek, Lawrence Matejek, Derrick Matejek, Rowdy Haferkamp, and Travis 'PeeWee' Spears.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lindenau Community Cemetery or donor's choice.

The family would like to acknowledge the Haferkamp family, Lyn, Lisa, Macie, and Rowdy for including Dave in their family and sharing their love for him.
