David Augustus Calliham, 94 of Thomaston passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012. He was born on December 5, 1917 in Thomaston, TX to Walter B. and Minnie Mae Eatman Calliham. He married his beloved wife Rosina DeDear Calliham, on December 23, 1938 in Victoria, TX. He retired as a process operator from DuPont , was the treasurer for 23 years for the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department, and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Cuero.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Scheffler of Baytown and Linda Kolar and husband, Gary, of Port Lavaca; son, David Anthony Calliham and wife, Jeanine, of Cuero; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters; Maggie Mae Braden and husband, Phillip, Elizabeth Murphree and husband, Charles, and Lucille DeDear and husband, Sidney; brother; John Edward Calliham who died at infancy.
Visitation will be held Thursday October 11, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday October 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Snyder. Interment will follow at Thomaston Cemetery.
Pallbearers include David Alan Calliham, Nelson Prince, Mitchell Thurman, B.J. Drehr, Randy Burk, and Henry Carrisalez.
