Reverend David Trevino Maldonado, affectionately known as Pastor David, 76, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Pastor David was born on March 8, 1944 to Mike and Josephine Maldonado in Cuero. The Maldonado family moved to Amarillo where Pastor David graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1964. After high school, Pastor David attended the Latin American Bible Institute in El Paso where he graduated as an ordained minister in May 1967.

He married the love of his life, Virginia Diaz on November 25, 1967 and they lived in Amarillo where they raised their 3 children, Lisa, Davey and Sara and founded New Life Fellowship Church. After serving the Amarillo area for 30 years, Pastor David relocated to his hometown of Cuero where he founded Victory Family Church.

In addition to dedicating his life to serving God and serving people, Pastor David was an accomplished musician, avid fisherman and mechanic. Pastor David is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Davey Maldonado and his sister, Eva Pantoja.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pastor Virginia Maldonado; his daughters, Lisa (Juan) Dominguez and Sara (Stanley) Viquez; daughter-in-law, Bretta Maldonado; granddaughters, Jasmine Barrios, Samantha Barrios, Abby Viquez and Josey Maldonado and grandsons, Michael Barrios II and Caleb Viquez.

Pastor David is also survived by his sister, Esther (Roy) Kendrick; brothers, Ismael (Andrea) Maldonado and Joel (Mary) Maldonado; numerous cousins; nieces; nephews and countless friends.

He will be greatly missed by his family, his community and the innumerable amount of people whose lives have been made better by Pastor David's infectious humor and light.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 28 ^th at 2pm at Victory Family Church in Cuero. A viewing will begin at 1pm prior to the start of the service. Masks and social distancing will be required to attend. Memorial contributions can be made to Pastor Virginia Maldonado to cover medical and funeral expenses.
