Derwood Alton Brandstetter, 76, of Cuero passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born September 18, 1940 in Gonzales to Louise Coulter and the late Benjamin Brandstetter. Derwood married the love of his life, Donna Faye Schaffner on September 15, 1984 in Lindenau. He was a carpenter and enjoyed fishing, collecting coins and monkey wrenches, and working in his woodworking shop. Derwood loved listening to country music and watching the deer while drinking his coffee.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Brandstetter; mother, Louise Coulter; sons, Steve E. Brandstetter and wife, Pam, and Clint A. Brandstetter and wife, JoAnn, both of Cuero; sisters, Dorothy Ann of California and Dianne of Granger; brother, Tommy Weir; grandchildren, Cory T. Brandstetter and wife Cindy, Tylor R. Brandstetter, and Kristen L.
Brandstetter, all of Cuero; and great-granddaughter, Lynzi R. Brandstetter.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Darlene; brothers, Jimmy and Edward 'Butch'; and stepfather, Jasper 'Doc' Coulter.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Monday, November 7, 2016, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Father David Berger and Minister Jerry Kidd officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Cory Brandstetter, Tylor Brandstetter, Cody Franke, Patrick Franke, Dennis Grahmann, and Darwin Mueller. Honorary pallbearers include Elias Garibay, Jeff Lucas, and Zack Brandstetter.
