Donald James "Don" Long, 81, of Cuero passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024.  He was born June 21, 1943, in Corpus Christi to Terry "Ted" Frank and Ethel Leona Huebner Long.  He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.  He worked as a drilling consultant in all facets of the Oil and Gas industry. For work, he traveled to Saudi Arabia, Columbia, Ecuador, Venezuela and many other countries.  He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his lifelong partner and best friend, Mary Turner Long; daughter, Donna Marie Long Rechterman (Marty); sons, Ted M. Long (Pam) and Wesley J. Long (Barbara); sister, Leona Warren; grandchildren, Teresa L. Brandon Albrecht (Chris), James R. Brandon (Samantha), Megan Long Lovett (Evan) and Jessica Long Chovanec (Tyler) and great-grandchildren, Elicia M. Smith, Grant Lovett and Bentley Michael Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Terry Long, Marcus Long and Henry Long.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be Friday, August 23, 2024, 10:00 AM at Freund Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Cuero.

Pallbearers include James Brandon, Evan Lovett, Tyler Chovanec, Alan Ardoin, Andy Ardoin, Shane Deaton and Chris Albrecht.

Honorary pallbearers include Billy J. Turner, Ike Knox, David Calliham, Curtis Tramel and Bruce Brown.
