Donna Schumacher Thomas, 47, of Goliad, formally of Cuero, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was born January 10, 1969 at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma to the late Harry Lee Schumacher and Gayle Conklin. Donna graduated Cuero High School in 1987 and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Houston-Victoria in Early Childhood Education and then her Master's Degree in Education Administration, all while taking care of her siblings, raising her own children, and working full time. She married Mike A. Thomas on July 28, 2012 at their home and followed up shortly after with a celebration of their marriage at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Donna retired from Yoakum Junior High where she served as Assistant Principal. She is survived by her beloved cowboy, Mike Thomas; sons, Luke Avant, Jake Avant, and Justin Thomas; daughters, Lillie Avant, Hannah Avant, Kelly Thomas, and Kara Thomas; mothers, Lillie Schumacher of Cuero and Gayle Conklin and husband, Joseph, of Boerne; siblings, Stacy Caskey of Cuero, Brent Schumacher and wife, Amy, of Haslet, Penny Armstrong and husband, Sean, of Portland, Paul Malinovsky and wife, Lori, of New Braunfels, Darryl Malinovsky of Shiner, Michael Malinovsky and wife, Peggy, of Shiner, Mark Malinovsky and wife, Michelle, of San Antonio, and Tim Malinovsky and wife, Lora, of San Marcos; nieces and nephews, Brooklyn Caskey, Kennedy Schumacher, Paityn Armstrong, Adelyn Armstrong, Paul Malinovsky III, Nathan Malinovsky, Geri Malinovsky, Erin Malinovsky, Caden Malinovsky, Emily Malinovsky, Ryan Malinovsky, Matthew Malinovsky, Cody Malinovsky, Margaret Ann Kotzur, Wyatt Kotzur, Cheyanne Emerson, and River Malinovsky; cousins, Kenneth Schumacher and wife, Jacque, of Cuero, Sandra Anders and husband, Pat, of Cuero, and Annette Rath and husband, Jr., of Cuero. She was preceded in death by her daddy, Harry Lee Schumacher; uncles, Marvin Schumacher, Harvey Schumacher, and Robert Rehm; aunt, Peggy Schumacher; grandparents, Arthur and Elsie Schumacher and Edmund Rehm; and cousins, Allen Schumacher and Mark Schumacher. Visitation will be Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero with a rosary. Funeral mass will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Cuero. Pallbearers include Matthew Schumacher, Parker Schumacher, Drew Katzmark, Anthony Rath, James Rath, and Colton Getschmann.
