Dora Maria G. Mendez, 94, of Cuero passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. She was born on May 19, 1919 in Lindenau, Texas to Ruperto Garza and Juanita Aleman. She married her beloved Francisco Mendez in 1940 in Cuero, Texas. Dora was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She is survived by daughters; Dellia Mendez of Cuero, Oralia Gonzales of Gonzales, and Susie Soto of Stockdale, sons; Gilbert Mendez of Cuero, Ernest Mendez of Cuero, Joe Mendez of Cuero, and Ramon Mendez of Corpus Christi, sister; Maria Sixtos, 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Francisco Mendez, sons; Gilberto Mendez, Eliceo Mendez, Frank Mendez Jr., daughters; Gloria Salazar, and Amelia Mendez, sisters; Elvira Villasana, and Josefa Banda, brothers; Ruperto Garza, Ismael Garza, Jose Garza, Andres Garza, and Frank Garza, and granddaughter; Princess Gonzales. Pallbearers will include; Gilbert Mendez Jr., Danny Villarreal, Robert Mendez, Steven Canales, Ernest Mendez Jr., and Frank James Mendez. Honorary pallbearers will include; Nick Villarreal III, Nicky Villarreal, Eddie Mendez, Ramon Mendez Jr., and Matt Mendez. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cuero with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Cheapside Cemetery.
