Doris Marie White, 93, of Cuero passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024.  She was born October 20, 1930 in Cuero to the late Ned Givens Thigpen and Viola Vienna Simon Thigpen.  She married the love of her life, Odell White Sr. on February 19, 1950 in Cuero.  Doris was a wonderful wife and mother who raised five children.  She enjoyed gardening which showed through her beautiful flower beds and bountiful vegetable garden.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and always had enough for family and friends.  She also had a passion for sewing, making beautiful quilts and learned the tedious needle point called Brazilian embroidery.  She loved reading and made weekly trips to the Cuero Library, but her most favorite book was her Bible.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Heyer and husband, David of Victoria, Toni Sullivan and husband, Floyd of Cuero, Belinda Speed and husband, Jay of Goliad, and Brenda Stratmann and husband, Scott of Victoria; son, Odell White Jr. and wife, Faye of Cuero; brothers, Walter and wife, Dixie of Victoria, Douglas and wife, Murielle of Sargent and Loyce Sikes of Bloomington; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odell White Sr.; sisters, Geraldine Spears, Ruby Thigpen and Deborah Thamm; brothers, Ned Thigpen Jr. and Vernon Thigpen and grandson, Trey White.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, 9:30 AM at Freund Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will begin at 10 AM with Rev. Mark Collins officiating and Very Reverend Bryan Heyer giving the eulogy.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Caleb White, Mitchell Speed, Jake Speed, Keith Schultz Jr., Cameron Schultz and Scott Stratmann II.

The honorary pallbearer is the Very Reverend Bryan Heyer.
