Dorothy Jean Hotz, 71, of Cuero passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023.  She was born June 15, 1952 in Gonzales to the late Dorothy Dees and Robert Mikes Sr.  Dorothy married Charles Hotz on December 4, 1970 in Cuero.  She was a homemaker, loved her family, cherished time spent with her sons and granddaughters, and was always there to lend a helping hand.  Dorothy and Charles were members of Calvary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed attending church, teaching Sunday school, and helping with Vacation Bible School.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles; sons, Charles E. Hotz II of Cuero and Anthony Hotz and wife, Tina, of Hallettsville; sisters, Helen Mikes Gadjusek, Mary Mikes Sansom, and Judy Mikes Gleason, all of Gonzales; and granddaughters, Emilie, Karlie and Kaylie Hotz, all of Cuero.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Mikes; daughter, Susan Gayle; sister, Betty Mikes; and brothers, Clyde Mikes and Robert Mikes Jr.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 5 to 7 pm at Freund Funeral Home.  Services will be Friday, November 3, 2023, 2 pm, at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Marlon Vick of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jason Heflin, Jason Gleason, Joseph Gadjusek, Matthew Gadjusek, Brian Billings, and Stephan Shutter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Kidd, Keith Gleason, and David Sansom.
