Edna Johanna Koehler Hattenbach, 97, of Westhoff, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015. She was born April 6, 1917 in Sample to the late Alvin Gustav and Johanna 'Janie' Frels Koehler. She married her late husband, Carl Alexander Hattenbach, on December 22, 1936, in Westhoff. She was a rancher, poultry farmer, and property manager. Edna was a good steward of the land. She and Carl believed that God had blessed them with land and that they should leave it in better condition than when they bought it. She won an award for Best Grassland in DeWitt County and the competition consisted of all men.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Konrad (Wilfred) of Katy and Carlos Haun (Will) of San Antonio; grandchildren, Marcia Boggs (Brian) of Katy, Jeff Konrad (Cher'yl) of Tomball, Ryan Haun of Houston, and Steven Haun (deAnna) of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Boggs of New York, NY, Lee Boggs (Rachel) of Katy, Tyler Konrad of Tomball, and Bendalyn Konrad of Tomball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; sisters, Lena Pakebusch Mueller, Lillie Hilbrich, Lillian Koehler, and Ida Koenning; and granddaughter, Brenda Konrad.
Visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Services will be Saturday, January 17, 2015, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, with Pastor Rich Schaller officiating. Interment will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jeff Konrad, Tyler Konrad, Lee Boggs, Ryan Haun, Steven Haun, and Carlton Konrad.
