Edward Louis "Skip" Pearson, II, 76, of Cuero, Texas, wrapped up his time on earth the only way he ever did anything-in his own stubborn, unforgettable fashion surrounded by loved ones.
Born to Bonnie Scogin Pearson Rochester and Edward Louis Pearson, Skip grew up working with family. He spent summers working on his grandfather Scogin's farm in Lyford and later pitching melons for "Doc" Rochester at La Casita Farms. Skip's upbringing gave him lasting grit and a reputation for being "hard as boot leather."
After graduating from Rio Grande High School, Skip attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, where he competed as a bareback and bull rider on the rodeo team, beginning a lifelong passion for rodeo. He later coached the rodeo team at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, leading a team to the National Finals, and served as Swine Superintendent for the Kleberg-Kennedy County Junior Livestock Show, something that he truly enjoyed.
His professional life also included ranch work, service as an engineer apprentice with the Missouri Pacific Railroad, work as a Farm Specialist at Texas A&M, and the past 15 years hauling cattle throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
Skip was a storyteller, spinning yarns about trucking or rodeo wherever he went. Above all, his greatest pride was in his family, especially his sons and grandchildren, whose achievements meant everything to him.
Skip was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Pearson Rochester; his father, Edward L. Pearson; and his brother, Ronald Ainsworth "Pete" Pearson.
He is survived by his sons, Casey Pearson (Aly), L.B. Pearson (Anna), and Dakota Pearson (Morgan); his grandchildren, Blayne, Channing, Truitt, Kelly, Ryker, and Leighton; and his sisters, Glynda Hester, B'Ann Boiles, and Melanie Reed.
