Elvie Mathilda Pakebusch, 97, of Cuero passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023. She was born December 9, 1925 in DeWitt County to Charles and Ida Haase Warling. She married Edmund Pakebusch on April 22, 1947 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. She worked with her husband for twenty five years selling candy and cigars.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion and St. Michaels Alter Society. She was an avid member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a devout Christian. She loved sewing and made many draperies at Rendezvous Interiors with Elizabeth Beck for sixteen years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Yates of Houston; son, Randy Pakebusch (Rhonda) of Cuero; sister, Ila May Pieper of Houston; grandchildren, Todd Yates (Tessa), Stephen Yates, Lacy Pakebusch Moon (Ryan) and great grandchildren, Chase Yates, Emily Yates, Briar Yates and Lilah Yates.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 5:00 -7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 10:00 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Todd Yates, Stephen Yates, Emily Yates, Lacy Pakebusch Moon, Ryan Moon and Randy Pakebusch.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas or St. Michaels Catholic Church.
