Ernesta Hilda Morgenroth Sherman, 99, of San Antonio, formerly of Cuero, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born in Westhoff on December 24, 1918 to the late Ferdinand and Anna Goehring Boldt . Ernesta worked in retail sales and was the owner of The Smart Shop. She was a lifetime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero and the Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was also very involved with the Cuero Historical Commission and was a charter member of the Cuero Ladies Auxiliary.

Ernesta is survived by her granddaughters, Lauren Tarkington and Lisa T. Piland (Todd); grandson, Shelley Tarkington (April); great-grandchildren, Paige Griffin, Cates Vanham , and Grant Piland ; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert R. Morgenroth ; daughter, Kaye A. Tarkington; sisters, Olivia Blank and Janell R. Poth ; and brother, Carlton Boldt

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018, 2 p.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Muehlbrad officiating.
