Our beloved father, Esiquio "Chico" Ybarra Sr., 92, of Cuero, entered into the gates of Heaven Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born November 9, 1925 to the late Fidel and Juanita Cano Ybarra in DeWitt County. He married Annie Devereaux on June 5, 1949 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. Chico was a devoted family man who loved dancing with his sweetie, watching his children play softball, and spoiling his grandchildren. He served in the United States Army and upon his return spent his lifetime working several jobs in the Cuero area before retiring from Brown and Root after 25 years. His favorite past time was working on his yard as well as volunteering for church functions at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he served as a Guadalupano.
Esiquio is survived by his daughters, Janie Pantida of Baytown and Cynthia (Billy) Raybion of Victoria; sons, Alfred (Grace)Ybarra of Pasadena, Ernest (Debbie) Ybarra of Houston, Herman (Elvira) Ybarra of Yorktown, and Albert Ybarra, Raymond Ybarra (Martha Garza), Esiquio Ybarra Jr. (Theresa Zaiontz) all of Victoria; 32 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife; sisters, Santos Ybarra, Josehine Villarreal, Ramona Garza, Juanita Naranjo; brothers, Dioninio Ybarra, Fidel Ybarra Jr., Antonio Ybara, Frank Ybarra; granchildren, Christopher Lee Ybarra, David Partida, and Belinda Oriz; great-grandchildren, Gaven Bowles, Nicolas Ybarra, and Roel Chacon III.
The visitation will be held Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with the Rosary being prayed at 4:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Chris Ybarra, Mark Ybarra, Jay Ybarra, Raymond Ybarra Jr. Billy Ortiz, Kolbe Ybarra, Jonathon Ybarra, and Brandon Ybarra.
