Esteban "Steve" C. Navarro, 88, of Dallas, formerly of Cuero and Port Lavaca, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born November 28, 1927 to the late Delfino and Maria Chavez Navarro. Steve joined the military in 1952; serving in the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. He married the love of his life, Dahlia O. Saenz, on May 7, 1967 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cuero. Steve retired from TXDOT after 23 years of service. He was also a member of Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by daughters, Rita Reis and husband, Bob, and Mary Navarro, all of Dallas; sisters, Elvira Dimas of San Antonio, Oralia Navarro of Cuero, and Guadalupe Morales of Oklahoma; and grandson, Nathan Reis of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delfino and Maria Chavez Navarro; his beloved wife, Dahlia Saenz Navarro; and brothers, Tomas, Isidro, Ramon, and Delfino Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 9 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cuero with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
