Obituary

Ethel Arlene Rummel Barth, 98, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016. She was born November 11, 1917 in Kenedy to the late Gus and Viola Donnel Rummel. She married Finley Barth in 1936. She was a housewife and waitress at Barth's Restaurant in Kenedy for many years. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed the times when she could be with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included baking and decorating wedding cakes, painting, quilting, knitting and crafts. She was a Baptist. She is survived by daughters, Mary Lou Cole and Doris Ann Cummings; sons, Finley Barth, Jr. and Cecil Barth; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Finley Barth; sisters, Dearer Rummel, Dorothy Bingham, and Beulah Pantallion; and brothers, D.C. Rummel and Clifton Rummel. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 9 to 11 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Garrett officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Karnes City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Barth, David Barth, Thomas Cole, Greg Westbrook, Ricky Burge, and Daniel Robertson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DeWitt County Relay for Life in Ethel's memory. Freund Funeral Home, 361.275.2343.
