Gene Davis, 66, of Cuero passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015. He was born November 17, 1948 in Yoakum to the late Seacamp Davis and Gladys Roy Davis. Gene was a cattle buyer and spent countless hours at the Cuero Sale Barn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tzena Funkhouser of Cuero; daughter, Lori of Cuero; sisters, Vivian Mathis (James) of Cuero and Joyce Harper (Clarence) of Houston; sister-in-law, Hazel Lewis of San Antonio; brother, Cornelius Lewis (Shirley) of San Antonio; and grandchildren, Alize of San Antonio, and T'Nese, Tywan, and Leslie, all of Cuero.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; daughter, Janet; son, Leslie Charles; and brother, Curtis Lewis.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 10 a.m., at LE Meador Encampment Grounds with Rev. Lou Terry Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasantville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Earl Edwards, Rodney Mathis, Fredrick Love, Jermaine Houston, Curtis Lewis Jr., and Rashawn Morrison. Honorary pallbearers include William Johnson, Johnny Blackwell, Jimmy Mudd, Richard Gonzales, Joel Price, Joe Price, and Mike Heller.
