Eugene Mollenkopf, 89, of Cuero, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009. He was born on Aug. 9, 1920, in Cisco, to the late Fred Mollenkopf and Judy Krkoska. He married Marion Schlinke Mollenkopf on Sept. 12, 1942 at Dodd Field at Fort Sam Houston Base in San Antonio. He was farmer and rancher. He served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran. He was a longtime member of VFW, American Legion, and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Linda Dittfurth and husband Barry of Yorktown, and Sandra Ricks and husband David of Victoria; son, Albert Mollenkopf of Cuero; two grandchildren, Misty Wade of Cuero and Courtney Ricks of Victoria; sisters, Mary Schrank, Rose Lee Simpson, Louise Dahlke and husband Fritz, and Katherine Drake; brothers, Fred Mollenkopf Jr. and wife Josephine, Jimmie Mollenkopf and wife JoAnn, and Douglas Mollenkopf and wife Brenda; six great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Kyle, Corey, Tyler, Jordyn, and Mariya.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Minnie Krkoska; sisters, Velma Hickey, Edna Bielke, and Dorothy Peterman; brothers, A.J. Mollenkopf and Ruben Mollenkopf.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Carl Blermann officiating. Burial will be at Lindenau Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Schlinke III, Harold Schlinke, Charlie Schlinke, Tim Mollenkopf, Courtney Ricks, and Kyle Mollenkopf.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dan Dugi, Dr. Raymond Reese, Dr. Jennifer Gonzales, and Neida Huber, and the staff at Cuero Nursing Rehab.
