VICTORIA - Eugene "Gene" Zaiontz of Victoria died Dec. 25, 2008, at the age of 67. He was born on Nov. 23, 1941, in Yorktown, to the late Joseph Zaiontz Sr. and Mathilda Baingo.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Mills Zaiontz. They were married on May 7, 1963, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero. Other survivors include two sisters, Debra Zaiontz of Pearland and Tanya Zaiontz of Victoria; brothers, William, Robert, Melvin, Marvin, and Patrick Zaiontz, all of Yorktown, Alfred and wife Lil of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Francis and wife Agnes of Columbus, Miss.; sisters, Bernadette Spies, Clara Kaiser, Rita Renault, Evelyn Janyssek and husband Eugene, all of Yorktown; grandchildren, Dylan Howard Boe of Lake Jackson, Chelsea Elizabeth Bow of Pearland, Britanny Jaynes and Hailey Jaynes of Victoria.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Joseph, and Thomas Zaiontz.
Visitation will be held from 6 till 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Freund Funeral Home. A rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Deacon Tony Warzecha. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero by Father Kirby Hlavty. Burial will be at the Burns Station Cemetery, Highway 87 South, Cuero.
