Cuero, Everett Ray Spittler, 86, of Cuero passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Eagle Lake. He was born January 23, 1923 in Sheridan, Texas to the late Howard Bascom and Christine Isabel Briscoe Spittler. He was a US Army WWII Veteran, worked for the Texaco Refinery in Port Neches for 38 years, and was a member of the American Legion and Calvary Baptist Church, Cuero.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Dell Cooper Spittler; his daughters, Ray Ann George of Conroe and Carolyn Sue Ray of Port Neches; sons, Everett Ray Spittler Jr of Conroe and John Anthony Spittler of Lynn Haven, Florida; brothers, Lloyd Spittler of Sheridan, William 'Billy' Spittler of Austin, and Lane DeMont Spittler of Hallettsville; sisters, Lois Jean Whaley of Kety and Ruth Lovell of Caldwell; step-children, Jackie Stewart of Bull Shores, Arkansas, Mark Rickman of Thomaston, Renee Lynes of Cuero, and Brenda Rickman of Cuero.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Annie Rosa Marek Spittler; second wife, Minnie Makey Spittler; brothers, Joseph Albert Spittler, Orval Howard Spittler, Harvey Spittler and Floyd Spittler; and sister, Alvas Nottingham.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. A service will be held Monday, February 9, 2009, 2 p.m., at First Assembly of God Church in Caldwell, Texas with Rev. Bill Gleason. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.
