IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence "Flo"
Miller
June 1, 1934 – October 14, 2018
Florence "Flo" Margaret Miller, 84, died with her children by her side in Cuero, Texas on Oct. 14, 2018. Flo was born on June 1, 1934 in Gordon, Nebraska to Robert Graham Reid and Luella Marie Reid-Schwarz, and married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" William Miller, on Dec. 20, 1952 in Sioux City, Iowa. Flo and Bob later moved to Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico, where they worked as missionaries for many years.
Flo worked various jobs over her lifetime, but she loved none more than her role as a "nurse" on the mission fields of Mexico. It was there that she served as a facilitator, helper and translator to doctors who came from across the U.S. to the mountains of Mexico, where they helped many people who would otherwise not have been able to obtain the medical care to restore sight both physically and, more importantly, spiritually. One of Flo's deepest passions was helping others and, in particular, women. She gave of herself selflessly and tireless to family, friends and strangers her entire life.
In 1995, Flo and Bob moved to Cuero Texas where they ministered to their brothers and sisters in Christ at First Baptist Church through music and missions, and many in the community through her volunteer work at Cuero Regional Hospital. Flo will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband Bob, sister "Betty", mother and father, but leaves behind a large surviving family. They are as follows: Randy (Red) L. Miller and wife Mari of Cuero, Texas, four daughters, Barbara A. Brown and husband Larry of Mason, Texas, Sandra J. Alford and husband Tommy of Wimberley, Texas, Jody L. Schwenkel and husband Kurt of Spring, Texas, Susan M. Jackson and husband Joel of Cuero, Texas, brother-in-law Thomas J. Miller of McAllen, Texas, and prolifically, a whole slew of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Cuero, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Alexander Felsch, Cole Harvey, Jonathan Ramirez, London Ramirez, Matthew Jackson, and Taylor Brown.
Memorials may be made to Mexican Indian Training Center, c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 803, Cuero, Texas 77954.
