Obituary

Floyd Evert Boone, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010. He was born in Yorktown on August 13, 1920 to Johnnie Hugh and Caroline (Lena) Brandt Boone. He was the oldest of eight children.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuero and the 32nd order of Masons.

Floyd wore many hats during his lifetime. He worked for his father-in-law hand sewing mattresses before opening his own appliance store on Heaton Street. He served as the Cuero City Park Manager and later worked for the county. He retired in 1985 to enjoy many wonderful years with his wife playing dominoes and tending cattle on their ranch in Stratton.

He is survived by his daughter, Christi Saylor and husband, Virgil, of Port Lavaca; sons, Barry Boone and wife, Jonyce, of Cuero and Van Allen Boone and wife, Karen, of Port Lavaca; brothers, Lewis Boone of Katy and James Boone of Gilmer; sisters, Dorothy Kirkpatrick of La Porte and Sophie Wilson of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Shirley Boone of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 52 years, Beatrice Rae Means Boone, December 15, 2007; brothers, Harvey and Orland Boone; and sister, Ellen Powell.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 2010, 10 a.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Cuero.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
