Dedicated husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Garland Ray Pakebusch passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018, surrounded by family following a courageous fight against Amyloidosis.
Born May 19, 1942 to Paul and Dorothy Pakebusch, Garland was a lifelong resident of Cuero, Texas, where he graduated from Cuero High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart Nita Thieme on June 30, 1962, and went on to raise his family as he became a master carpenter. After retiring from Texas Concrete, Garland stayed active raising cattle, grooming the land and fixing pretty much anything broken, according to his family. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing, and shooting skeet.
Garland is survived by wife Nita, brother Robert (Elaine), children Shelli Bouillion (Gary), Stacie Bon (Ivor), and Scott (Mandy), and grandchildren Addison, Landry, Bryant, Daylyn, Staton, Nicholas and Katherine.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, May 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where Garland was a member, with Pastor Paul Muehlbrad officiating. Reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
Pallbearers include Michael Pakebusch, Ryan Wagner, Malcolm Wolter, Harold Hartman, Randall Flessner and Rodney Flessner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and remembrances can be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Hospice of South Texas.
