Geneva Polasek, 90, of Cuero passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011. She was born January 3, 1921 in Koerth to the late O.E. and Sophie Boehm Hermes. She married her late husband, August J. Polasek in March 2, 1948 in Hallettsville. She was s professional softball player, a fisherman, a rancher, a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church and the Altar Society, a member of the Ladies of the VFW, and most of all a homemaker in the truest sense of the word.
She is survived by her son, David Polasek of Cuero; her daughter, Dennise Boldt of Austin; grandsons, Jonathan Polasek and wife, Annie, Mason Polasek, and Steven Boldt and fiancé, Jessica Gray; granddaughter, Sarah Whitenight and husband, Evan; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Polasek, Harper Whitenight, and Hudson Whitenight; most dear friend, Elenora Miculka, and caregiver, Janie Zellinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August J. Polasek; son-in-law, Michael Boldt; brothers, Eugene Hermes, James Hermes, and O.R. Hermes; and sister, Mary Rita Hermes.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held Monday, February 28, 2011, 10 a.m., at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will follow at Sweethome Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jonathan Polasek, Mason Polasek, Steven Boldt, Evan Whitenight, Sarah Whitenight, Bubba West, and Lupe Vasquez.
Memorial contributions may be made to Accolade Hospice, Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Social Services, or St. Michaels Catholic School.
