George Irving Middaugh passed away Monday, March 7, 2011. He was born on November 29, 1922 in St. Mary's, West Virginia to the late Rev. Irving Seely and Lorene Taylor Middaugh. A 1949 graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with a B.S. in Agriculture and a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's University with a B.S of Law. He served in the Army Air Corp, the U. S Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII as a pilot, flight instructor and merchant seaman. He met the former Geralyn McDonald while serving at Brayton Field, Cuero, Texas and married on January 21, 1944 in San Antonio, TX. His work experience included being a commercial pilot, a County Extension Agent in Joplin, Missouri and San Antonio, TX, manager of the JW Gorman Registered Angus Cattle Ranch in Poteet, TX, a school teacher and assistant junior high principal in the Poteet School District, a real estate broker, City Attorney and Corporation Court Judge for the cities of Pleasanton and Cuero, a builder, an as an attorney in San Antonio, Jourdanton and Cuero, Texas.

Surviving are daughter Sandra and favorite son in law A.C. Kenne of Trinity, TX., grandson Stephen and wife Kerri Kenne of Houston, TX, granddaughter Kristina and husband Michael Cooper of Kingwood, TX, and three great grandsons, Carter, George and Luke Kenne, sisters Louise Knight (Moffitt) of Lewisburg W. Va., Stella (AL) Wood of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Lorene (Lee) Gillespie of Hagerstown, Maryland, and brothers Beryl Middaugh of Vinton, Virginia, and John (Billie) Middaugh of Kingsport Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Ashby, brother, Egbert Middaugh, wife Geralyn and son Stephen Wayne Middaugh.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the building fund for the First United Methodist Church, 211 N. Clinton, Cuero, TX 77954 and the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 915 Hebron Church Rd., Yoakum, TX 77995.
